It took three and a half days to travel from Haiphong to Kunming. It took 25 days to transport goods along the rivers downstream and it took 31 days to transport goods upstream. On the 10th of Spetember 1940, the Japanese army landed in Vietnam. The Yunnan-Vietnam Railway became a shortcut for Japanese aggressors to reach Yunnan, China´s rear area during WWII. On the 12th of September, the Kuomintang government blew up the Sino-Vietnamese Bridge and pulled down 172 kilometres of rail in Yunnan. Then Japanese airplanes began to bombard the town of Mengzi County. (part 2)
