Dunhuang lay at a key point on the Eurasia continent. It was culturally developed, combining influences from Central and Western Asia. The fine calligraphy inscribed on the Han Dynasty wooden slips was the style used by ordinary people. It was first found at Dunhuang-the great treasure house of Chinese art and culture. People found 1,200 Han Dynasty slips in the Majuanwan site, Gansu Province. Original Han Dynasty calligraphy is found only on the inscribed slips.
