Today we are talking about money trees. The money tree was found in 1990, at the Han Dynasty site at Hejiashan on the outskirts of Mianyang. It is the largest, tallest and best-preserved money tree yet found in China. It has a wealth of detail, is very lifelike and exquisitely cast. And it´s highly significant. It reflects the ancient people´s desire to be rich and happy in their lifetimes and to ascend to heaven in the afterlife. It kept in Mianyang museum, but after earthquake in Mianyang, 2008 there´d been very little damage to the collection in the museum. So it was sent to Beijing for the China´s Memory exhibition at the time of the Olympics in 2008, this was the first time in many years that it had left Mianyang and been seen at a major exhibition.
